First race with the truck April 6, 2003

Well, that time came around and the racing blood got to me.
My first race was at the Old Town Hobby Shoppe first points race of the year.
I joined the points and there was a pretty good show up for as cool as it was.
Temperature was about a high of mid 50's, started out real cool that day.
The course they had selected for the day was layout number 5. (You can see the different track layouts under the link below)

Day started out pretty good, they have a new track, with 4" PVC for the outside of the track and on the insides are the Road Rail and Road Dome system for the corners. Real nice.

I started out just running the truck easy, didn't change much. I had never really run the truck with the body on it and it was REAL lean sounding, or starving for air or fuel on top end.
Then found it wasn't shifting to second, so wasn't much I could do about it, just decided to run the day the way it was and do the best I could.
Well, I found out I had the suspension setup WAY too tall and had body roll everywhere and was REAL hard to handle and steer.
First Heat race I think I ran 9 laps in 6 minutes, which wasn't too bad for a first time and taking it easy and trying to take the tight S turns at the end.
Second Heat I ran a little slower, maybe 7 or so laps, but was being to careful trying to take the S Turns and stay in bounds.
Made it into the "B" Main. Well when time came to run it some had left and they combined the A and B mains and it was to consist of 10 minutes total, which meant I would have to pit to get fuel. Ryan Schaffer was helping me with things there.
That point never came around at the end of the first lap a turned around truck hit the front end, and I tried to go high and hit 4" PVC and went over it and knew something was wrong, as I had no steering then.
Come to find out the Trinity Blue Servo savers just are not strong enough for the weight of the truck. It backs the screw out a hair, or it pops the spring out and the steering is history. (This happened once before around the house running it)
I decided on Monday to order the SuperMAXX Steering Servo Saver and Hard servo arm. This has a titanium crossarm on the linkage, which should make it stiff.

Well, to end it all off, There were 10 in the main, and I was at the top of the list as DNS, or DNF, so I am guessing I finished in the 5-10, haven't seen results, but all in all I was happy for my first ever race. Since this I found out I finished 7th and 2nd in points at this time.

Have a lot of work to do this week.
