Sunday July 27, 2003 Old Town

It started out a nice day and got really hot. Was in the mid 90's during the day and it was a LONG one, as they ran 3 heat races.

I did pretty good on my first heat race with 18 laps, and Wally 20, and they had a 1/8 scale buggy that did 19, but you really can't count that one as it was a lot lighter then the trucks and had a 21. They said they weren't going to count him in the points.

Truck didn't start well on second heat race and died with a bad plug, so had to go to a colder one, and I didn't even run it. On the third heat race still didn't act right, so Harrison came over and we ran it hard off the track and dial the carb in so it would keep running. This did help and got me going well enough for the Main

I qualified forth for the main, with Wally, the buggy and Lee in front of me. Wally was leading at the end of the first straight and the I went around the buggy high and he pushed me into and over the wall and the pillow ball came through the steering arm. I was going down laps and got some guy to bring the truck to me so we could jam it back on. Ran ok, but steering was rough on it. It came off again later in the race, and right at the end coming across the line, but I finished. Lee won the race with 21 laps, the buggy with 18 I think and I had 15. They said they were going to give Lee 100 me 98 and Wally 96+1 for TQ.

Boy was it a hot day. I ran the rubber slicks and ran ok, but weren't as predictable as the Low Pro-Line, so might go back to them, but ran ok in the heat.
