June 29, 2003 Old Town

Well, it started out as a good day. I had the foam tires on the truck and took them off real fast as I found they had WAY too much wheel hop and know it would have broken something in no time at all. Went to the 40 series Pro-Line wheels. I had put some limiters in the shocks to make them shorter this week, and had to take some of the spacers out of the front and rear shocks, as they were too stiff, and didn't give much in the corners.

Heat races went good and was fast in the first one. In the second heat on the last lap came around and hit Josh Spence in the rear and tore the steering knuckle out of the pivot balls, but this was on an old one that I needed to replace. Started 3rd or 4th in the "A" main and got about half way into the 8 minute main, or 11 laps I think it was and truck just didn't want to steer, so brought it off the track and found the steering servo had a burnt spot in it, (but at time thought battery had died), but wasn't the case and need to replace it. Could have come from maybe the Pivot balls being too tight when I replaced the steering knuckle, but anyway I need to replace it with something.

Ran the car in practice, but I had put a new steering servo in it the night before and it didn't want to go straight, so I decided not to run it and wreck it, as there were just too many cars and couldn't have gotten any better then the C main at most.

Good day though and truck did hook up well. Robert Spence ended up winning and I was in front of him until the steering died, so I finished a 6th place. This was the second in the series of races, so have 98 on the first race and  90 today.
