May 4, 2003 Old Town Race

Day started out pretty cool, and looked like rain, but wasn't that bad.
They had changed the layout TOTALLY from what it was suppose to be but turned into a nice track.
Truck ran pretty good, took it easy in the heat races. Ran 12 laps first heat race and 13 in second in 6 minute heats. Tops was a 15 and a 16 by the Josh Spencer in the second race. Had a new guy he brought down with him, as his dad wasn't there and the guy ran pretty good.

In the "A" Main I started out in 6th, they combined the B and A together and it was real late so only ran 10 minutes. I ended up 4th with 2 laps behind the leaders. They were both 20, 3rd was 19 and I ran 18. I was driving too careful the whole day, but didn't break anything and for the most part stayed inside the track the whole day. I fueled at the 7 minute mark and was about to the crack line in the tank, so might be able to go to 8 minutes, which will be enough for the 15 minute mains.

Tried not to use much brake and make the corners more wide sweepers as that seemed to help and it pulled it through with the front it. I was running the Maximizer rims with the Trinity Park tires on them, of which the foams go all the way to the inside and I just put some more camber in the front and rear to make up for that. Was running about 2mm toe in, in the front and back, might try taking some out next week in the rear to see if that helps in turns, or hope to try the foam slicks, but would like to get the aluminum truck all together to try them on first, and maybe try it with the 2.5 stock T-Maxx motor, just have to see.

Temp was running about 230 in the heats and was right at 250 at the end of the 10 minute main race. Felt pretty good though and the temp was in the high 60's to low 70's then and cloudy.

I just need to be more into driving harder, but I tried to drive around all the wrecks of which there are always a ton.

Nice day though and finished 4th overall.
