Ocotober 5, 2003, Olde Town Hobby

Today was a pretty good day. Weather was cool, started out in the low 50's, but got into the low 60's by race time. I ran both my Dominator and the T-Maxx to see how both ran. The Dominator seems to be easier to drive and doesn't want to turn around as easy, you just have to keep it under power. I ran the T-Maxx in Practice and in the 2 qualifying race. Only got 2 or so laps into it and it broke both the front and rear driveshaft pins where they go into the differentials. These were RD Logics and I have about given up on their stuff now. Good thing I had the Dominator to race. It felt pretty good and I was only 3 seconds behind Robert Spence in Qualifying and then they Said the Lee ran more, but don't think that was true, as he did a 9 second and a 17 second lap, which is impossible.

Started the race out with Lee in front, Robert Spence in 2nd and me in 3rd. Got to about 2 1/2 minutes before the race and truck wouldn't start, it had blown the glow plug. I think this was due to it being to lean, or the spring in it looked that way, but I had to hurry and find a plug, get it all in and finally get it started and only had 30 seconds to go, so hurried up and got Justin Logan to hold the truck for start. I took off well, but truck just didn't want to turn, and thought I was on the wrong truck setting in the radio, but think in reality that the servo saver was just too weak. I was all over the place, so I turned the dual rate off and went to 100% steering on it and that helped a little, but was still real sluggish. Think I went a little down but at about the 4 minute to go mark I just let it all out and ran it as hard as I could and stayed in the lead or went into it, cutting corners as best I could, (that seems to be the shortest way around the track) On about 2 laps to go it felt like I had no power and found it got over 300 degrees and leaned out, but I still gave it all it had and got my first win there with 25 laps and Robert Spence was on the same lap with Lee Rader with 23 laps in third place, but he got the TQ for the day.

It was a good day overall. Came home and worked on a few things, and made the servo spring a little tighter on the Dominator and started to put the Lunsford turnbuckles on it to be able to adjust things easier, waiting on the hinge pins and will put all that on there this week. Took the T-Maxx apart and put stock Plastic driveshafts in front and rear and ordered some more for spares so will see how they hold up this coming Sat.

I got 100 Points with Robert Spence with 98and Lee with 96 plus 1 for the TQ
